Schedule:

August 5th 4PM-: Dinner and Beer at Kantýna - Politických vězňů 1511/5

We will meet at or after 4PM (depending on your arrival). There are no reservations and it is a traditional cafeteria style restaurant. Grab a seat and a beer and we can all slowly gather and perhaps move on to cocktails afterwards.

August 6th: Hradčany (The Castle) and U Hrocha

August 6th

11 AM: Meet at Malostranské náměstí

We will gather at Malostranské náměstí (12 or 22 tram) and walk together via Thunovská toward the castle. Along the way, I can point out U Hrocha, our afternoon destination, before we continue up toward Kuchyň.

11:30 AM: Beers, views, and optional lunch at Kuchyň(Hradčanské náměstí 186/1)

Kuchyň opens at 11:30AM, and its terrace is an ideal place to gather for a beer, the view, and perhaps a light snack. I plan to make a 12:30 lunch reservation for those who would like to join.

For those who want to continue on, the castle offers an easy and flexible afternoon. A good route would be St. Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace, St. George’s Basilica, Golden Lane, or simply wandering the grounds and taking in the views. There is no need to rush back — U Hrocha will be waiting below whenever you are ready to return.

4 PM: Beer and snacks at U Hrocha - Thunovská 178/10

One of the great classics of the “Prague Zoo,” U Hrocha sits at the bottom of the castle steps and will be our afternoon base. We’ll have a private room where we can enjoy one of the finest pours of pivo in the city and sample some classic Czech pub food.

8:30 PM: Dinner at Bruxx - Náměstí Míru 9

After an afternoon of Czech beer and hospoda culture, Bruxx will provide a welcome change of pace with it’s focus on Belgian cuisine. As always, those who still have energy afterward can decide on further adventures on the fly.

August 7th: Vinohrady, Jiřího z Poděbrad (JZP)

11 AM: Meet at Jiřího z Poděbrad

We’ll gather at Jiřího z Poděbrad around 11. With its striking church, leafy square, and the Jiřák market often in full swing, it is one of the nicest neighborhood meeting points in Prague and a lovely place to begin the day.

12 PM: Lunch at Vinohradský pivovar - Korunní 2506/106

From Jiřího z Poděbrad, we’ll take an easy walk through Vinohrady to Vinohradský pivovar for lunch and the first stop of the afternoon. As both a brewery and a full restaurant, it makes a good gathering place for everyone, not only the beer obsessives.

After lunch, those who want to continue can set off on a beer tour through the neighborhood, likely including Automat Matuška at JZP and, if the moment feels right, Pražský floutek. As always, the afternoon can remain flexible.

Afternoon alternatives

Those not joining the beer tour might enjoy staying around Jiřího z Poděbrad, walking to the Žižkov TV Tower and Mahlerovy sady, or spending a quieter afternoon in Grébovka with its vineyards, views, and shady paths.

4 PM: Bon Vivants - Mánesova 87

Bon Vivants is one of Prague’s classic cocktail institutions and a fitting place to transition from the afternoon into the evening. We’ll have snack and an amaro tasting, perfect for a pre-prandial afternoon stop.

8:30 PM - Dinner: Čestr

Dinner will be at Čestr.

August 8th: Letná Park

12 PM: Meet at Letná Beer Garden

We’ll gather in Letná around noon for beers, a stroll through the park, and some of the finest views in Prague. From there we’ll make our way to the Metronome and enjoy the afternoon at an easy pace.

4:30PM: Bokovka - Dlouhá 37

Bokovka is a lovely place to regroup over wine and snacks before dinner and offers a welcome change of pace after the afternoon in the park.

8 PM: Dinner at Červený Jelen - Hybernská 5

Dinner will be at Červený Jelen.
